The online application for the first part will be completed on the website Nigerian Immigration Service. You will need to enter your personal information.
You will need to complete the online application and then go to the nearest Nigerian Embassy/Consulate in the USA.

Nigerian passport renewal - online application
You will need to follow the steps on the Immigration Service website to renew your Nigerian passport online.
- Step 1: Go to the Immigration Service website.
- Step 2: Select E-passport in the passport menu and choose standard E-passport.
- Step 3: Select the country to be processed and then submit the online application.
- Step 4: Choose from one of four accounts: Google Yahoo Open ID or Facebook. You can fill out the form after logging in or creating an Account.
- Step 5: Select the processing Embassy/office that has jurisdiction in your region, print a copy, and then click submit.
The system will issue a Reference number and an Application ID to you after your submission is successful. Continue to the online payment. Save the receipt.
Once you have completed the application, print the page and the tracking numbers. Then mail the information to the address indicated.
Nigerian passport renewal documents to be submitted at the Embassy
You will need to submit these seven (7 ) documents after you have completed the online process.
- A copy of the online application form

- Passport of Nigeria that has expired
- Photocopy of your passport data page
- Two Nigerian passport-size photos
- For the USA, a certified self-addressed, prepaid envelope (from USPS, UPS or FedEx).
Minors must also submit a birth certificate, a signed letter of consent from both parents and a photocopy their passport data page.
You will need to submit a photocopy the data page from your parents' passports as well as your birth certificate if you are a Nigerian citizen who was born outside the country.
All applicants, regardless their age, must be present physically at the Nigerian Embassy in order to submit the documents.
